Travelling : Don't always book same airport for Arrival and Departure
Most people i met will just book a round-trip. But they'll have to travel to
other places and take some 'pain' on getting back to the Arriving
airport for departing back to their home.
With more and more budget airlines giving goodies for consumers. We, as consumer should be spending more time to organize our traveling plan to make it as effective and efficient.
Example:
a) Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne and Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur.
b) Kuala Lumpur to Macau and Macau to Kuala Lumpur
Solutions:
I would advised them to plan their travel itenary and then book flight accordingly. For example
a) Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne; Melbourne to Sydney, Sydney to Kuala Lumpur; or
b) Kuala Lumpur to Macau, Macau to Zhuhai, Zhuhai to GuangZhou, Guangzhou to Shenzhen, ShenZhen to Hong Kong, Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur.
Why doing it?
Saving and Saving and Saving!
You don't want to buy another flight ticket for travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney as the flight time is around 7.5 hours per way! But the time taken from Melbourne to Sydney is just 1++ hour. Beside time, the cost of flight from KL to Sydney is much more expensive than Melbourne to Sydney.
So, the saving you had could be spent for your shopping needs!
;)

Support acid attack victim Tan Hui Linn!
GEORGE TOWN: After enduring a series of plastic surgery in the past
nine days, acid attack victim Tan Hui Linn has been allowed to venture
outdoors.
The teenager, who had been confined to her room earlier, was given the green light by doctors to visit Myeongdong Market, which is Seoul's shopping haven.
However, Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi said doctors had cautioned Hui Linn, 19, about catching a cold during her outdoor trip today.

famous Myeongdong Market after going through surgery for nine days. —

“The weather in
Seoul is cold and dry now with the temperature ranging between 1˚C and
below 4˚C. The doctors are concerned that her facial skin will crack due
to the weather,” he said.
“Hui Linn is also advised to control her facial movement whenever she smiles as she has just had skin grafting surgery on her face,” he said in a telephone interview from Seoul, where Hui Linn is seeking treatment sponsored under the Medical Korea Project by the South Korean government.
Ooi, who is helping to coordinate the trip, said Hui Linn had wished to take a walk in the market where there was a large number of trendy boutiques.
He also said that doctors had fixed Jan 6 to conduct an eyebrow embroidery for Hui Linn's right eye.
This is to lay the groundwork for an eyebrow transplant using her own hair tissue.
On Oct 24, 2009, part of Hui Linn's face, body and limbs were scarred after her father Lim Teik Swee, 54, splashed acid on her mother and her while they were sleeping.
Her 50-year-old mother died while Hui Linn was blinded in the right eye. Her other eye only has limited vision now.
Despite the ordeal, she scored 9As and 1B in the SPM examination last year.

Refund AirAsia RM 10.00 counter check-in fee.
Starting 22 December 2011, AirAsia is abolishing the RM 10 counter check-in fees for all international flights.
This is part of our continuous effort to reduce the cost of travelling
for all of our guests in-lieu of the recent passenger service charge
hike.
Guest who have pre-paid their counter check-in fees for their international flights from 21 September up to 21 December 2011 may obtain a refund in the form of credit shell through our customer care e-form www.airasia.com/my/en/faqdetailsform.html. Whereas counter check-in fee for domestic flights will remain as it is.
Comment: Personally, i knew it was not a good move to charge customer more. The web check-in could save you RM 10 but it's not being practised at all other destinations. So, eventhough you've web check-in, you'll still need to queue up the 'check-in' line again. :P

Choose the right model and Accessories
Very often we'll try to reuse whatever bags or accessories that we have in our home. But if you want more comfortable during your trip, then you'll need to understand some basic comparison.
Compare Specific Features
Once you've settled on the right type and size of luggage, it's time to compare features on specific models. At this point, your own personal preference best determines what features are most important. Some common features to consider:
- Storage compartments make it easy to organize, pack and unpack.
- Built-in organizer pockets are handy for frequently used items.
- Compression straps squeeze a bulky bag down to a smaller size.
- Removable daypacks zip off for convenient day use.
- Expandable pack bag or bellows pocket allow you to fit in extra gear.
Fitting a Backpack
If you'll be wearing your bag as a backpack, it's important to make sure it fits well. Stuff the backpack with 20 to 30 pounds of weight inside, centered between your shoulder blades as close to your back as possible. Concentrate on the hipbelt and shoulder straps, making sure they’re comfortable and easy to adjust.Travel Accessories
Here are some accessories you’ll never be sorry you packed.Packing Organizers
- Folders, compressors and cubes keep clothing organized and wrinkle-free. They are also ideal for separating dirty laundry from clean clothes.
- Mesh ditty bags are handy for organizing items such as T-shirts, socks and small accessories.
- Toiletry kits keep all your personal care items in one place.
Safety and Security Items
- Locks deter theft.
- An undercover wallet, money belt or undercover pouch conceals valuables.
Tip: Preflight, check with your airline for the latest regulations involving the permissible size and contents of bottles.
Merry Christmas !
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Note for Hand Carry-On Luggage
Size and Weight Guidelines
Most airlines typically enforce a 50-lb. limit per checked item and charge fees for checked baggage.
- For Jetstar (JQ) and Jetstar Asia (3K/VF), dimensions of main items must not exceed 56cm (width) 36cm (height) 23cm (depth) for an overnight bag, laptop bag or briefcase.
- For Jetstar Pacific (BL), dimensions of main items must not exceed 48cm (width) 34cm (height) 23cm (depth) for an overnight bag or briefcase.
- AirAsia limit is 7kg
For
carry-ons, allowable sizes (and the number of bags allowed) are not
standardized, but most airlines allow carry-on bags no larger than 22" x
14" x 9". It’s wise to check with your airline about size limits before
departure.
What size bag or pack is best for you? Here are some rough guidelines:
Trip Length | Luggage Size | Suggested Bag Type |
Weekend trips | 52 liter (3,200 cu. in.) | Carry-on duffel, pack or bag |
1- to 2-week trips | 65 liter (4,000 cu. in.) | Travel pack or wheeled luggage |
Expeditions | Several 65-liter bags | All types |
Tip:
Don't worry about leaving extra space in your bag for souvenirs. Pack
an empty duffel bag to fill with treasures for the return trip.

Luggage, Packs and Bags : What to choose ?
No single piece of luggage is perfect for all kinds of travel. That's why YDMA offers a variety of luggage, bags and packs. But how do you know which is best for you? Consider the following:
Wheeled Duffels
Nothing swallows up gear like a duffel bag, and one with wheels can be a dream come true for multisport gear junkies. If your adventures frequently require gear of widely varying sizes and shapes, a rolling duffel is a smart way to corral it all. A newer variation, the carry-on wheeled duffel (22"), offers less space but more convenience, allowing you to forego the time and expense of checking a bag.
Best for: adventure travel requiring bulky or odd-shaped gear; family trips; road trips
Wheeled Luggage
Designed for traditional travel (business commuting, family visits, road trips), this category typically features compact sizing and sturdy construction made to handle the rigors of luggage transport systems. If you like to have things organized—medications here, toiletries there—look for bags with lots of pockets or add-in organization accessories.
Best for: business travel; family visits; road trips and travel to urban areas.
Wheeled Backpacks
Popular with adventure travelers, these combine the convenience of wheeled luggage with the mobility of a backpack. You can transport lots of gear with a simple pull of the extendable handle. Facing heavy foot traffic or a long flight of stairs? Strap on the shoulder and waist straps for hands-free carrying convenience.
Best for: adventure travel; road trips.
Travel Packs
These travel-oriented backpacks are for those who don’t mind carrying gear on their backs.
They excel where wheeled luggage cannot: on gravel, cobblestone streets, stairs and other uneven terrain. Travel packs sport internal frames, hideaway shoulder straps and built-in security features. Women’s travel packs have suspension systems designed specifically for a woman’s frame.
Best for: travelers who want to be highly mobile and plan on carrying all their gear.
Duffel Bags
The traditional duffel—minus wheels and pull handle—is lighter than its rolling counterpart, easier to store (no rigid parts, so it folds up smaller) and friendlier to your budget. It also offers huge capacities—several models available at REI provide over 130 liters (8,000 cubic inches) of space. Zip your pack inside one to transport it on an airplane.
Best for: climbers, college students or any traveler on a budget.
Laptop Bags, Sleeves and Day Packs
These urban carry-ons have a padded compartment to protect your 10"–17" laptop, plus a bevy of organizing pockets to hold cables, peripherals and paperwork. Some are checkpoint-friendly, meaning the TSA may not require you to remove your laptop at security checkpoints. Laptop sleeves can also be used with e-readers and tablets.
Best for: Urban travelers and anyone who wants to safely transport a laptop.
Carry-on Luggage
Want to avoid the expense and hassle of checked bags? All of the bags and packs described above—from wheeled backpacks to duffels—come in sizes intended for carry-on use.
Most airlines allow carry-on bags no larger than 22" x 14" x 9". Rules can change, so be sure to check with your airline about size limits (or other baggage regulations) before departure.
Best for: travelers who pack light, are highly mobile and want to bypass baggage claim.
- The types of trips you'll take (e.g., hotels, camping, international).
- What kinds of activities you plan to do (e.g., trekking, snorkeling, cycling).
- How many possessions you want to bring.

Hand Luggage - Get One if you don't need a bigger bag
With fuel prices going up and down during this volatile period. Airlines have imposed fuel surcharge and even higher price for baggage checked-in.
Hand luggage or cabin baggage (also commonly referred to as carry-on in North America) is the type of luggage that passengers are allowed to carry along in the passenger compartment of a vehicle instead of moving to the cargo compartment. Passengers are allowed to carry a limited number of smaller bags with them in the vehicle and contain valuables and items needed during the journey.
There is normally storage space provided for hand luggage, either under seating, or in overhead lockers. Trains usually have luggage racks above the seats and may also, especially in the case of trains travelling longer distances, also have luggage space between the backs of seats facing opposite directions or in extra luggage racks for example at the ends of the carriage near the doors.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) sets guidelines for cabin baggage/hand luggage/carry-on luggage size.[1] They are not mandatory, however, and individual airlines can and do vary their requirements. The IATA guideline states:

Cabin baggage should have a maximum length of 56 cm ( 22 in ) , width of 45 cm ( 18 in ) and depth of 25 cm ( 10 in ) including all handles , side pockets , wheels etc.
Since 6 November 2006 there is a common regulation for cabin baggage restrictions.

- Restrictions on abusable objects:
- weaponry, including imitations and sports utilities (e.g. archery)

What Does Green Bag Mean To You?
Many people welcome "Green" effort to save our planet. An idea or just purchasing a green product doesn't mean it's enough. What we need to do is consistently showing our action to prove that the green effort is being carried forward.
You do not need to purchase a new greeny bag to show to everyone that you'll giving a helping hand to the mother earth. All you need to do is reuse your bag and taking care of your wastage.
An unpublished report from the UK's Environment Agency found that when compared to a traditional plastic bag, a canvas or cotton reusable bag would have to be reused a total of 171 times to offset the higher carbon emissions. The same study found however that the average cotton bag is used only 51 times before being thrown away. So, you'll need to reuse it at least 4 times more than the study shown!
So, just bear in mind when you want to throw the bag away.

Getting a right travelling bag
Do you like to move around?
If yes, then you'll need to read more to find yourself a right bag.
There are 5 important questions that you'll have to answer below:
A) Will the bag will shared other than yourself?
If yes, you'll need to write down number of people sharing the bag. This is mainly true if you're travelling with family. The more the merrier, but you'll need a bigger bag!
B) How many set of clothes you'll need for the holiday?
This question is depending on how long you'll be going for holiday and how are you going to recycle the clothes (if you plan to wash and reuse it during the trip). Less set of clothes mean smaller bag!
C) What's the season of the place that you're going?
If winter, you'll need to prepare thicker clothing as compare to summer. Thicker clothes mean bigger bag!
D) What type of place that you'll be?
If you're going for hiking, you don't need to carry a hard case frame with wheels! Use your common sense and your trip planning is important. If you're on a long holiday, make sure you've the right combination of bags that give you an option to move from city to city and at the same time to carry small little stuff at your back.
E) What's your size?
Not everyone is a gladiator and no need to be one during your holiday. Just make sure you enjoy the trip! Too large a bag can cause slipping and result in your arm/hand going numb. Too small a bag will result in doing the blow/squeeze cycle more often than is optimal with detrimental impact on blowing tone.
That's all for now! Hope you'll get a suitable bag for your trip and enjoy the holiday.
